FAQ - Relationship between Load Current and Ambient Temperature of SSR

Modified on Tue, 4 Feb at 3:57 PM

Q: How does the relationship between load current and ambient temperature rating of solid-state relays affect the selection?

A:  The difference in maximum rated load current between a standard heat sink configuration and no heat sink configuration is shown in the figure. When the temperature exceeds 40 degrees Celsius, the maximum load current tends to decrease. If the application does not allow to install a heat sink due to installation space constraints, special attention should be paid to the impact of temperature changes on the maximum load current.
