Purpose

This guide will provided a walkthrough on how to update the MicroHAWK barcode reader firmware with the Omron Device Discovery Utility.

Problem Explanation/Objective

The objective of this guide is for you to learn and understand how to update the firmware on the MicroHAWK barcode reader. You will also obtain the MicroHAWK firmware update files and the firmware update software needed to perform the update.

MicroHAWK ID Firmware Update Guide

Install Omron Microscan Device Discovery Utility

1. Download the latest Omron Microscan Device Discovery Utility tool.

Download the MicroHAWK Firmware

1. Download the latest MicroHAWK Weblink firmware.  This update package will include both the MicroHAWK and Weblink interface firmware files.

2. Do not extract the contents.

Update Firmware

1. Run the Microscan Device discovery utility.

2. Select your device in the device list.

3. In the Device information window, click on the update firmware button .

4. Navigate to and select the downloaded firmware update package.  Then click Open to begin the update.  

5. Wait for the update to transfer and complete the installation.  Do not power down the MicroHAWK camera while the update is in progress.  The device will also reboot itself when the update has finished.    

Verify Firmware Update

1. Once the camera has finished rebooting after the update.  Select your device in the device list.

2. In the Information window, verify that the camera’s firmware version has been updated.
