FAQ - CPM1A and CPM2A Series compatibility with CP1W expansion units

Modified on Fri, 7 Feb at 9:55 AM

Q: Are the CP1W units compatible with the CPM1A and CPM2A series?

A: CPM*A series PLC was discontinued in April 2015 and replaced by CP1 series PLCs.

At the time, CPM1A and CP1W expansion units, like the CP1W-MAD11 and the CPM1A-MAD11 were identical, except for the outer casing.

Both CP1W-MAD11 and CPM1A-MAD11 could be used with either CP1 or CPM*A series PLC.

In April 2020, CP1W expansion modules were modified and are no longer compatible with the discontinued CPM*A PLCs.

Newer CP1W- expansion modules with Lot Code April 2020 and newer (for example 220713M) are not compatible with CPM*A PLC.

The older than April 2020 CP1W expansion modules (05514M as an example) are compatible with discontinued CPM*A PLCs.
