Purpose
The OMRON 3G3MX2 inverter offers flexible control for AC motors, including the ability to change the motor’s rotation direction. This guide explains how to safely and efficiently change the rotation direction using the inverter.
Problem Explanation/Objective
This guide aims to change the rotation/direction of an AC motor by providing step-by-step instructions.
Supported devices
- 3G3MX2-V1
- 3G3MX2-V2
- ..
Requirements
•The AC motor is properly connected to the 3G3MX2 inverter.
•The basic configuration of the inverter is completed, and the motor is functioning correctly.
Procedure
Steps To Change AC Motor Rotation Direction From Parameters:
1. Verify Motor Cable Connections, Ensure the U, V, and W terminals between the motor and the inverter are connected correctly.
2. Access the Parameters
If the inverter is in local control mode, use the control panel to access the settings.
Press “MODE” to enter the main menu.
Use the up/down keys to select parameter "F" (Basic Function Parameters) and press "Enter“
Set the RUN Direction Selection F004: Forward/Reverse
•00 (Forward Rotation)
•01 (Reverse Rotation)
Change the value to the desired direction. Press “Enter” to confirm.
3. Exit the parameter menu and return to the main screen. Start the motor and verify the rotation direction.
Alternative Methods to Change Rotation:
Changing Rotation by Swapping U, V, and W Terminals
1. Another option to change the motor’s rotation direction is to switch the connections between the U, V, and W terminals of the motor output.
By swapping two of these terminals (for example, switching U and V), the motor's rotation direction will reverse.
Changing Rotation via Digital Inputs
If you prefer to change the rotation direction using digital inputs (external signals), follow these additional steps:
1. Assign one of the digital inputs (e.g., S2) for the rotation direction change. To do this, adjust the corresponding parameter, such as C001 (Multi-function Input 1 Selection).
2. Set C001 to the appropriate value for "Reverse Rotation.“
3. Use a switch or external signal connected to that digital input to change the motor's rotation direction in real time.
