TG - MX2-V2 Series - (FW) an (RV) RUN Command with External Input

Modified on Wed, 12 Feb at 5:01 PM

Purpose

This guide explains how to configure and wire an external selector switch to control Forward (FW) and Reverse (RV) operation on the Omron 3G3MX2 Inverter. By implementing this setup, users can manually switch between forward and reverse motor rotation without using a digital operator.

Explanation

The default configuration of the 3G3MX2 inverter does not include external FW/RV control.

Users who need manual direction control must wire an external selector switch and configure the inverter to recognize the input signals.

The objective is to enable the inverter to respond to FW and RV signals through a selector switch, ensuring seamless manual operation.

Supported devices

3G3MX2-___-V2

Requirements

•3G3MX2-V2 inverter (or any inverter from the MX2 family)

•Selector Switch (External Input)

Procedure

Steps to Control  Forward RUN Command (FW) and Reverse RUN Command (RV) for the 3G3MX2 Inverter Using an External Selector Switch

1. Wiring the Selector Switch

To control forward (FW) and reverse (RV) operations using an external selector switch, make the following connections:

Connect the Multi-function Input S1 terminal to one side of the selector switch.

Connect the Multi-function Input S2 terminal to the other side of the selector switch.

Connect the common terminal (SC) to the middle contact of the selector switch.

This wiring allows the inverter to receive either a forward or reverse run command based on the selector switch position.

2. Configuring the Inverter Parameters

To enable the selector switch operation, configure the following parameters:

Multi-function Input Assignments:

Set C001 (Multi-function Input S1 Selection) to 00 (FW - Forward Run Command).

Set C002 (Multi-function Input S2 Selection) to 01 (RV - Reverse Run Command).

Set A002 (1st RUN Command Selection) to 01 (Control Circuit Terminal Block).

Done!

Precautions:

If both FW and RV signals turn ON simultaneously, the inverter will stop without displaying an alarm and will resume operation when either signal turns OFF.

After making these changes, the selector switch should be able to toggle between forward and reverse operation.
