TN - How to disable the online authentication on Sysmac Controllers

Modified on Fri, 7 Feb at 12:01 PM

Summary/Issue Description

Newer versions of PLC use security communications which requires setting up an user and password to go online with the controllers.

Root Cause

In November of 2022, Omron added enhanced security for Sysmac Studio software, NJ/NX Machine Controllers, and NA HMI’s: Secure & Encrypted communications between Sysmac Studio, NJ/NX PLC’s, NA HMI (TLS v1.2 - Client/Server & Server/Client authentication) ‘full-function’ Firewall to Sysmac Studio and NJ/NX

These new Enhanced Security functions are available with: Sysmac Studio v1.50.0 or higher, and NJ/NX PLC series with firmware version 1.49 or higher It’s strongly recommended to update Sysmac Studio to v1.50 or higher before attempting to ‘go online’ with a NJ/NX with firmware v1.49 or higher.

For free access upgrades is necessary to have an account registered in the following Website -> Software Registration

(For detailed information about account registration please contact Omron Tech Support at ia.techsupport@omron.com)

Solution

To disable the Authentication please go online with the controller and then open the User Account Settings under Controller Menu > Security > Set Up User Account...

It will ask once again for the password of the PLC, please enter it again and then the User Account Settings will come up:

Simply unmark the Enable user authentication option at the top of the window and then click on Transfer to the Controller:

The controller will go offline after transferring, click OK in both windows to continue with the process:

Then you can attempt to go online again just to confirm that the Authentication was disabled:
