Summary/Issue Description
The new feature released on April 2023 allows users to connect the NA5-V1 HMI with CS, CJ, and CP series Controllers over serial communications like RS-232C and RS-422A.
Root Cause
Older versions of Sysmac Studio and RunTime on the HMI do not support the settings of the serial port, after some firmware and software upgrades the HMI is capable of talking over RS-232C and RS-422A protocols (limited to Omron Controllers such as: CS, CJ, and CP series)
Solution
To have the new feature is necessary to update Sysmac Studio to at least version 1.54 or higher, For free access upgrades is necessary to have an account registered in the following Website -> Software Registration
(For detailed information about account registration please contact Omron Tech Support at ia.techsupport@omron.com)
With an account registered, execute the Omron Automation Software AutoUpdate, use the credentials of the account created, and install the upgrades on the computer. After the installation is finished, we recommend to reboot the computer so the new features will appear.
Then simply add the HMI V1 to a new project and go to the Serial Port Settings under Configuration and Setup > HMI Settings > Serial Port:
NA5 HMI without V1 version are not applicable for Serial Port Communications.
