FAQ - Finding GS1 Symbol Specification Tables

Modified on Mon, 31 Mar at 2:11 PM

Q: I recently updated my LVS-95XX software. While attempting to select my proper GS1 Symbol Specification Table (SST) I noticed the listed tables have changed. Why?

A: The GS1 organization typically updates their primary document, the GS1 General Specifications, towards the beginning of each year. While the SST’s are not necessarily updated during every revision, it is not uncommon. All these changes require us to update our software in order to comply with the most current revision, and usually the most noticeable change for a user is to the SST’s.

Q: Where can I find the most recent revision of the GS1 General Specification?

A: The GS1 General Specification is freely-downloadable directly from the GS1 organization. The main GS1 website is www.gs1.org, though there may also be region or country-specific GS1

websites such as GS1 US (www.gs1us.org). The GS1 General Specification can generally be

found in their Resource Library in PDF format.
