Technical Guide - How to safely move LVS-9570 and certain LVS-9580/9585 verifiers between PCs

Modified on Wed, 27 Aug at 10:52 AM

Purpose

This technical guide intends to outline a best practice to be used prior to moving any LVS-9580/9585 manufactured after June 2018 or any LVS-9570 (of any vintage) from a PC where it is currently installed to another PC where an identical model of verifier has ever been connected in the past.

Problem Explanation/Objective

Any time one of the aforementioned models is installed on a PC a “.sav” file is created in C:\Users\Public\LVS-95XX, similar to the screenshot below:

This mechanism is designed around only a single aforementioned verifier model being used on the PC, though there are many reasons a different verifier may need to be used (replacing a damaged verifier, testing, etc.). If another verifier of the same model is connected to the PC then the .sav file from the original unit can cause the serial number of the new verifier to be overwritten at the hardware level.

Supported devices

  • LVS-9580/9585 models manufactured after June 2018.
  • LVS-9570 (any vintage).

Requirements

N/A

Procedure

To prevent possible issues, ALWAYS delete ALL .sav files from C:\Users\Public\LVS-95XX prior to connecting any of the aforementioned models to a PC that has previously had another unit of the same model installed at any point.
