TG-NB-Create Multi-State Graphic

Modified on Wed, 15 Jan at 2:15 PM

Purpose

This guide shows how to create the required multi-state graphic for an 8 State Word Lamp in NB Designer.

Problem Explanation/Objective

NB Designer has by default many choices for multi-state vg graphics, but the max default number of graphic states for many of the vg graphics is 2 or 3.  This document shows a chronological approach for when you place a vector graphic into your application, only to find that the graphic selected does not have enough states to support something like an 8 State Word Lamp.

Supported devices

NB Designer Version 1.61

Requirements

This guide assumes you are familiar with NB Designer applications

Procedure

1. Open or create a new NB Designer application as you normally would, and open a page on the HMI

2. Drag the Word Lamp onto an Edit Window page and in this example, I am just using default internal NB address of LW0

3. Select the number of states required for your word lamp.  In this case I’ve selected 8

4. Give each state a label, leaving the default selection for Auto Resize and Vector Font

5. Close the Word Lamp dialog box and place the word lamp on the screen

6. Select Draw from the top menu, and Add Graphic

7. Adjust this graphic for the correct number of states, give the graphic a name, select Vector Graphic and note the location of the vector graphic on your PC. Click OK

8. After clicking OK, you can see the 8 different states in the NB Graphic Editor

9. Use the NB Designer Graphic Editor (Add Graphics Button) to create 8 unique indicators, 1 for each state.  Here, I drew a rectangle and filled it in for State 0, then copied that rectangle to each of the other states, and then changed each to a unique color.

10. The new Vector Graphic is in the vg folder of your application and can be copied into future NB Designer Project folder

11. Go back to the word lamp, click on the graphics tab and the new graphic can be selected.

12. Save, compile, and test with Offline Test
