TG - MX2 Series - Restoring Factory Default Settings

Modified on Wed, 5 Feb at 9:46 AM

Purpose

The document provides a guide on restoring factory default settings for the Omron MX2 Inverter. This process resets all modified parameters to their original factory settings and clears fault monitor data, ensuring the inverter returns to its initial operational state.

Problem Explanation/Objective

Over time, parameter modifications may affect inverter performance.

Users may need to restore default settings to troubleshoot issues or revert to factory configurations.

The process includes safety measures to prevent accidental resets and requires specific parameter adjustments.

Once executed, initialization cannot be undone.

Supported devices

Omron MX2-series Inverter (3G3MX2 series)

Requirements

MX2 inverter previously installed and powered

Procedure

Restoring Factory Default Settings for MX2

The parameter initialization function restores all modified parameters to their factory default settings. Additionally, it can clear fault monitor data, ensuring the inverter returns to its original operational state.

To prevent accidental initialization, certain parameters must be configured before executing the reset.

1. Access Initialization Parameters

Use the Digital Operator to navigate to the initialization settings.

Ensure the Display Selection (b037) is set to 00 (Complete Display) to make all parameters visible.

2. Configure Initialization Settings

Set Inverter Mode Selection (b171) to 00 to retain the Heavy Load/Light Load Selection (b049).

If any value other than 00 is set for b171, the Heavy Load/Light Load Selection will be initialized.

DriveProgramming User Parameters (U00 to U31, P100 to P131) remain unchanged unless Initialization Selection (b084) is set to 04.

For a full reset, including clearing fault data and user-defined programming, set Initialization Selection (b084) to 04 before executing initialization.

3. Execute Initialization

Set parameter b180 (Initialization Execution) to 01 to start the reset process.

Press the Enter key to confirm the initialization.

The inverter will reset all parameters to factory defaults.

Wait for the initialization display (d001), indicating that the reset is complete.

Note:

If Initialization Target Setting (b094) is set to 01, the reset will also restore the I/O terminal and basic communication settings.

This process only resets user-registered parameters if specifically selected.

Precautions for Correct Use

Irreversible Action: Once the Enter key is pressed with Initialization Execution (b180) set to 01, the initialization cannot be undone.

If Soft Lock Selection (b031) prevents changes to initialization parameters (b084, b094, b180), initialization cannot proceed. Adjust b031 to enable modifications if necessary.

During initialization, the inverter ignores the RUN command, even if it is active. The command must be re-entered once the process is complete.
