TG - Normal Mode Configuration using the CP1W-EIP61 Module

Modified on Fri, 7 Feb at 4:10 PM

Purpose

Explain the functionality of the CP1W-EIP61 Module when used with compatible PLCs

Problem Explanation/Objective

Use the Normal Mode to interchange data with the Module and other devices over Ethernet using the Input and Output assemblies by configuring the connection using Network Configurator software.

In Normal Mode the CP1W-EIP61 adapter allows other PLCs to connect to an Omron CP1L/H PLC and share up to 100 words of data in each direction with the originator PLC. Assemblies are provided to produce and consume 20 bytes (10 words), 40 bytes (20 words) 100 bytes (50 words), or 200 bytes (100 words) of PLC data.

Supported devices

  • CP1W-EIP61
  • CP1L-L *1
  • CP1L-EL *1
  • CP1L-EM *1
  • CP1L-M *1
  • CP1H-Y *1
  • CP1H-X *1
  • *1 Note: Compatible only when an option port is available

Requirements

  • CX-Programmer
  • Network Configurator

Procedure

To select the Normal Mode is needed to use the appropriate assembly as well as use the fixed memory allocation to interchange the data with other devices:

This selection will depend on the number of bytes the user wants to interchange, going from 20 up to 200 bytes of data.

The Produced Data is the Output Tag, and the Consumed Data is the Input Tag on Network Configurator.

For example, by selecting assembly 100 and 101 to send data with another PLC use Memory Allocation D1000 to D1009, to read data from another PLC use Memory Allocation D1100 to D1109

The following example uses a CJ2M PLC as an originator PLC and Network Variables CP1_Input and CP1_Output:

1.- Open the Network Configurator and install the EDS File for the CP1W-EIP61 module.

2.- Drag and drop the PLC originator and the CP1W-EIP61 module on the network.

3.- Double-click on the Originator PLC to open the Edit Device Parameter Window and click on Tag Set Tab, add the input and output tags by clicking Edit Tags.

4.- Click on the In-Consume to create the Input tag, and select the appropriate size according to the assembly to be used. Replicate the procedure for the Output tag.

5.- Once the tags are created, open the Connection view and select the CP1W-EIP61 adapter.

6.- Use the Down Arrow to create the connection and then double-click on the device, assign the previous tags created and the appropriate assembly.

7.- After the tags have been assigned to the assembly, go online with the controller and download the settings.

After the connection with the originator and the module has been downloaded, the data interchange will start after the PLC enters RUN Mode.
