Purpose
The purpose of this guide is to provide basic instructions on how to change the LVS-95xx software to switch from using the default local MS Access database to a SQL Server database.
Problem Explanation/Objective
As there are many different types of SQL database applications, it is not possible for Omron Microscan to test against all such applications. Omron Microscan cannot guarantee compatibility with your SQL Server.
Switching to a SQL server database will only work when switching from the default LVS Microsoft Access database file. Switching from a SQL server database to another SQL server database is not possible. To switch to a new SQL server database, you will need to revert to the default MS Access database file and repeat the following LVS-95XX software setup instructions. See the Notes at the end of this document.

Procedure
Set up on the SQL server:
- Create a new Database: LVS-95XX
- Create a new User: LVS-95XXAdmin
- Grant new User (LVS-95XXAdmin) full access to Database (LVS-95XX).
Example only. Your values will be different depending on your SQL installation. Consult with your SQL administrator for assistance setting up your environment.
Set up in the LVS-95XX software:
- In the Archive tab, click “Change SQL Connection”.
- Then, Click the “Change ODBC Connection String to use MySQL” button. This will work for any SQL connection.
- Enter the connection string to connect to your SQL Server database and click the Ok button.
- You will be asked to populate the SQL server database file with LVS-95xx information. This data must be copied over or the LVS system will not work. Click the “Yes” button to populate the SQL server database with the necessary information.
- You will then be asked if you want to copy over all of the settings and reports from the current database file. This step is optional.
- You will then be asked to update the registry console. This registry change will need to be allowed to change in order for the Database connection to change. Click the “Yes” button to continue. The connection will switch over to the SQL server database and take effect immediately.
