Purpose

Instructions on how to remove and replace the window of an LVS-9510 verifier.

Problem Explanation/Objective

Usage and abrasion can cause the window surface to become scratched, or it may be damaged.

Supported devices

  • All LVS-9510 models

Requirements

  • Philips Screwdriver
  • Latex gloves (typically provided in kit purchase)
  • Household window cleaner (optional)
  • Soft, lint-free cloth such as a microfiber cloth (optional)

Procedure

Step 1: Remove the Window

1. Close the LVS-95XX software by clicking the X in the top, right corner of the screen.

2. Set the LED power On/Off switch to the “Off” position.

3. Disconnect the USB interface cable and 12 VDC power supply cable from the input connection on the LVS-9510.

4. Prepare a clean and smooth work surface free of debris, dust, dirt, oils and other contaminates for window replacement.

5. Using a Philips screwdriver, remove the six screws that secure the back cover (three screws on the left side and three  screws on the right side).

6. Carefully remove the rear cover by sliding straight backwards.

Do not lift or pry the cover at an angle either upwards or downwards.

7. Wearing the latex gloves provided (or similar powder-free, lint-free gloves), slide out the top window bezel; the latex gloves help to avoid contaminating the window when handling it.

8. Using a Philips screwdriver, remove the eight screws that secure the inner frame of the window bezel.

Be careful not to scratch or contaminate the underside of the window as it contains an antireflective coating.

9. Lift the frame off and carefully remove the existing window; take note of the orientation of the beveled edges.

Store the existing window in a lint-free, non-abrasive pouch, bag, or wrap if needed for future use.

Step 2: Replace the Window

1. Handle the new replacement window carefully by the edges. Remove the protective film on both the top and bottom side of window. Do not touch the window surfaces. Carefully place it into the window bezel, noting the orientation of the beveled edges (window fits into bezel only one way).

2. In a reverse order, replace the inner frame and secure carefully with the eight screws that were

originally removed, lightly hand tightening.

3. Carefully slide the window bezel back into the LVS-9510 enclosure.

4. Carefully replace the rear cover in the same manner in which it was removed (aligned straight forward, not at an angle). Carefully, but firmly, push the cover fully into position. All seams should fit tightly.

5. Replace the six screws used to hold the rear cover into position (do not over tighten).

6. Carefully inspect the top surface of the window for smudges or contaminates and clean, if necessary, using a soft cloth or towel and household window cleaner such as Windex®, Glassex®, VISS®, and Mr. Muscle®. Do not use an industrial- strength glass cleaner. For cleanroom environments, IPA (Isopropyl alcohol) up to 70% may be used to clean the outside of the window. Do not touch or clean the inside of the viewing window or you may damage the antireflective coating.

7. Connect the USB interface cable and 12 VDC power supply cable to the input connection on the LVS-9510.

8. Set the LED power On/Off switch to the “On” position.

9. Restart the LVS-95XX software and resume operation.

Note: Please properly dispose of the used parts with your local recycling program.
