TG - Restoring Factory Default Settings on Sentech Cameras with StViewer

Purpose

This guide explains how to restore a Sentech camera to its factory default settings using the StViewer software. It also covers how to save these settings as the camera’s default startup configuration.

Problem Explanation/Objective

Over time, camera settings may be modified during testing, calibration, or production use. If the camera begins to behave unexpectedly or needs to be returned to a known good state, it is helpful to restore the factory default settings.

Sentech cameras support both factory defaults and user-defined configurations (UserSets), which can be managed using the StViewer software.

Supported devices

This procedure is applicable to the following camera types:

USB3 Vision
GigE Vision
CoaXPress

Note: USB2.0, USB3.0 (non-Vision), Camera Link, and Opt-C:Link models do not include built-in factory default settings.

For these models, a default configuration must be manually saved prior to making any changes, to allow later restoration.

Requirements

A Windows PC with StViewer installed (part of the Sentech SDK)
A supported Sentech Vision camera connected to the PC
Camera properly installed and recognized by StViewer
Image acquisition stopped before performing the procedure

Procedure

1. Load Factory Default Settings

Launch StViewer and connect your camera.
Ensure image acquisition is stopped (click the Stop icon if running).
Go to the Remote Device tab.
Navigate to UserSetControl.
From the UserSetSelector dropdown, select “Default”.
Click the “Execute” button next to UserSetLoad.
→ This will load the camera’s factory default settings.

2. Save the Factory Defaults as UserSet

To preserve the factory default settings for future use:

In UserSetSelector, select “UserSet1”.
Click “Execute” next to UserSetSave.
→ This saves the current (factory default) settings to UserSet1.
