TN - How to add PDO entries on Sysmac Studio

Modified on Fri, 7 Feb at 12:05 PM

Summary/Issue Description

Process data communications cyclically exchange data between the master and slaves in the process data communications cycle, the PDO Map is already created and you can select the ones available to communicate with the EtherCAT device.

Root Cause

Some PDOs do not accept new entries and have fixed variables only to be used, so when users want different data to read from the slave is necessary to edit the PDO Map.

Solution

To edit the PDO mapping in an EtherCAT device on Sysmac Studo, first select a PDO map that is editable, see below:

1.  Go to the Slave settings under Configurations and Setup > EtherCAT, open the edit pane for the EtherCAT network
2. Select the slave to open the operation settings.
3. Open to the Edit PDO Map Settings
4. Then select on the Pop-Up window the Map Entry that is editable
5. Open the PDO Entries by clicking on ADD PDO Entry
6. Select the Entries that you want to add to your PDO
7. Click Ok, and after the window closes click on Apply to make the changes applicable.

The project might need to be synchronize again so the device can save the new configuration
