Q: How can I upgrade the Firmware of a NS HMI?

A: Locate the RecoverUpdate.exe file and follow the steps to update the program system.

When attempting to transfer a program with a recent version from CX-Designer to an HMI with an older firmware version, the following error message may appear:

Error: “System program version is older than project data.”

In order to successfully transfer a program created with a newer version it will be necessary to update the HMI firmware by following two steps:

1. Locate the RecoverUpdate.exe file. This file is typically found in the default installation directory of CX-Designer: "C:\Program Files(x86)\OMRON\CX-One\CXDesigner\RecoverUpdate".

2. Carefully read and follow the instructions provided in the PDF document “How to recover or update the system program”, located in the CX-Designer folder.

Note: Before performing the firmware update, make sure to back up all programs and configurations. The update process will reset the HMI to its factory default settings.
